About Dark Matter
After learning that every choice can open a different reality, a family tries to stay together as the multiverse brings new consequences. Season two expands the conflict without losing its emotional core.

Jason Dessen loses his familiar life
The starting situation is not a mission to colonise another planet, but the loss of a recognisable life. Jason is a physicist, professor and family man before confronting another version of his existence. That perspective offers a way in without studying a complete multiverse theory: notice what he recognises, what has changed and what he wants to recover. The causes and resolution remain part of the mystery.
Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly and the ensemble
Edgerton plays Jason and Connelly plays Daniela. Alice Braga and Jimmi Simpson join the cast alongside Dayo Okeniyi and Oakes Fegley. Use those names and the 2024 starting year to identify the show. This is the Blake Crouch adaptation associated with Apple TV; the words Dark Matter alone do not distinguish every production a search might return.
Blake Crouch adapts his own novel
Crouch is the creator, writer and showrunner of the adaptation. Reading the novel beforehand is optional because television supplies its own entry point. If you choose both routes, compare them afterwards so a literary explanation does not answer a question the series is still developing. Alternative paths connect the scientific concept with personal choices, without requiring each book chapter to match a television episode.
Where to begin and what to track between realities
Begin with season 1, episode 1 and continue by number; the opening season has nine episodes. Fictional dates and lists of worlds are not an alternative first-watch order. A simple reference is which version of Jason’s life is being presented and what he knows at that point, without prematurely treating two scenes as proof of the same thing. His family story provides a thread to follow.
