About Outlander: Blood of My Blood
Outlander: Blood of My Blood explores the love stories of Jamie Fraser’s and Claire Beauchamp’s parents. Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser belong to the eighteenth-century Highlands, while Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp meet against the background of the First World War. The prequel combines romance, family obligations and two periods that require different points of reference.

Two couples to establish at the beginning
Ellen and Brian are Jamie’s parents; Julia and Henry are Claire’s. Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine play the four leads respectively. Following the introduction does not require memorizing the whole Outlander family tree. Begin with these two couples and their settings. A familiar surname provides a point of reference, but it does not explain every choice made by a person in an earlier generation.
The Highlands and wartime: keeping the strands clear
Ellen and Brian’s introduction belongs to the world of Scottish clans, while Julia and Henry’s includes wartime separation and correspondence.
