Small Prophets on Apple TV: a platform debut, not a brand-new series

A comedy with an unusual premise and a useful release-date distinction. Here is how its Apple TV arrival differs from its original broadcast.

What arrives on 7 October

Small Prophets brings its six-episode first season to Apple TV on 7 October 2026 outside the United Kingdom. It already premiered on the BBC there earlier this year, so this is not a worldwide first release. Its Apple TV arrival in the UK is planned for 2027; dates for other territories should not be transferred to that catalogue.

The idea without the answer

Mackenzie Crook’s comedy follows Michael as an unconventional experiment becomes part of his search for answers. The premise puts an everyday concern next to a fantastical possibility. You do not need to have watched another Crook series to begin: having the same creator does not automatically make two separate stories part of a franchise.

How to give it a fair try

Try one episode in a quiet viewing session rather than judging a short clip or looking up the ending. If its mixture of humour and strangeness interests you, six episodes can become three two-episode sessions. That is simply a practical viewing plan, not an official story division or a promise about where particular conflicts conclude.

Which date belongs in your diary

Save the date for your platform and country, rather than the first date attached to the title in a search. This avoids waiting for a premiere that already happened somewhere else. Check your account’s access conditions too: appearing in an app does not by itself establish whether a title is included in your subscription.
