Your week ahead, without spoilers
From 5 October to 11 October, here is our selection of premieres to help you choose what to watch. We focus on new films, first seasons and returning shows, rather than treating catalogue additions as premieres or listing every weekly episode. Each date applies to the countries named in that entry.
Movies
Animals
9 October · Netflix · United States. Check the local catalogue and release time before making plans; a date in one country does not confirm availability elsewhere.
A kidnapping places a couple under pressure. The premise suits a viewer seeking a suspense film rather than another long series.
Begin with this story without a route through earlier films. This selection does not anticipate responsibility or decisions beyond the initial conflict.
It offers personal tension alongside the week’s action choices. The date applies to the United States catalogue, not a confirmed date for every country.
Matchbox: The Movie
9 October · Apple TV · Spain. Check the local catalogue and release time before making plans; a date in one country does not confirm availability elsewhere.
A reunion between friends becomes an action adventure. This is a choice for viewers who would rather start a film and complete their evening without adding another season.
It draws on the Matchbox toy brand; another car franchise is not required viewing. Sharing vehicles with other films does not make their stories part of one continuity.
We selected it for its adventure setup and as a different session from this week’s thrillers. Check the local rating and account access before suggesting it to a group.
Other Mommy
9 October · Cines / Cinemas · United States. Check the local catalogue and release time before making plans; a date in one country does not confirm availability elsewhere.
A horror option for a cinema session. This entry records the US opening; cinema schedules in other countries may use different dates.
We do not assign earlier films as introductory homework. Identify title and year, review the local rating and avoid compilations of surprise scenes before choosing.
We selected it as a theatrical alternative to the streaming choices. Confirm your city’s screening before treating this calendar day as a booking.
The Social Reckoning
9 October · Cines / Cinemas · United States. Check the local catalogue and release time before making plans; a date in one country does not confirm availability elsewhere.
A story about revealing information within a major technology company. It is a weekly choice for viewers interested in journalism and the power of platforms.
It is thematically associated with The Social Network rather than a reason to summarise both plots in advance. Save that film for a comparison afterwards if you prefer.
We selected it for a different kind of tension from action and horror. The date is a US cinema opening and does not announce a streaming window.
Series
A Day Like No Other · Season 1
9 October · Netflix · Spain, Mexico. Check the local catalogue and release time before making plans; a date in one country does not confirm availability elsewhere.
Raphael’s career becomes a biographical series. Its point of interest is an artistic life approached through dramatisation, keeping person, character and your own memories distinct.
You do not need to know his entire discography to begin. Nor should a dramatisation be treated as if every conversation were a literal record of the singer’s life.
It broadens a week otherwise led by suspense. The announced release covers Spain and Latin America; Spain and Mexico are the specific references listed here.
Rage / Furia · Season 2
9 October · HBO Max · United States. Check the local catalogue and release time before making plans; a date in one country does not confirm availability elsewhere.
An ensemble show’s return offers several voices and conflicts to revisit. We do not summarise earlier revelations or anticipate how the stories develop.
This is the second part, so finish the previous one before continuing. Keep your catalogue’s numbering in view: parts and seasons may carry different labels.
It is a selection for viewers returning to a familiar story. This entry refers to HBO Max in the United States without automatically transferring its date to Spain.
